Hydro-Pel® Model 22 Series Expansion Tools - Up to 10,000 PSI (690 Bar)
The patented precision machined tool provides versatility for use in
hydro-mechanical ball expansion applications. The ExpanTek® Model 22 Hydro-Pel® Tool is designed for high pressure expansion
of tubing using a ball or bullet. This unique tool, along
with a high pressure unit, will rapidly expand tubing for
refrigeration coils, boilers, tubular assemblies and many
other associated products. Its short, outside collet grip is
very helpful for applications with short tube ends.
The Model 22 tool will handle English and metric tube
sizes from 0.250” to 1.250" (6.3 mm to 31.75 mm) in diameter. Special sizes and
configurations will be considered upon request.
Model 22 is a snap-on coupling suitable for hydro-mechanical
ball expansion on tubes with standard OD tolerances up
to 10,000 PSI (690 Bar).
For ball or bullet expansion, adapt the tool to a high pressure
line. Slip the tool over the end of the expanded tube
with the ball or bullet already inserted into the tube. Press
the tube firmly against the stop. When the service line is
pressurized to approximately 50 PSI (3.45 Bar), the collets are activated
for positive grip. Continue to increase pressure until
the expansion pressure is reached. Use caution not to exceed
the maximum pressure rating of the tool. After the
tube is expanded and the service line pressure drops
to atmospheric pressure, the collets automatically release,
allowing quick removal of the tool from the work.
