How it all began…

In the mid l940's, George A. Smida and Johnny Rodgers built a prototype pump, valve and tools for Rodgers Hydraulics. A few years later, this equipment was incorporated into the standard product line at Rodgers. George and his wife, Louscinda, purchased the pump, valve and tool product lines from Rodgers Hydraulics in 1959, while the remainder of Rodgers was sold to a firm located in California.

The new company, George Smida's Machine Shop, was moved into an 800 square foot (74 square meters) backyard shop. George's son, George R. Smida, began working with his father in the shop from the beginning. Together, they built a profitable company that has expanded and grown for over 60 years.

Some of these changes include:

1967 - A new company name and logo Air-Mo Hydraulics (Air-Motor/Hydraulics - air over hydraulics).

1969 - Relocated to a 3,600 square foot (334 square meters) location in Blaine. Minnesota, which allowed for greater production and testing capabilities.

1987 - The company moves into a 14,000 square foot (1,300 square meters) facility in a northern suburb of Minneapolis which incorporates a turnkey production facility, Turning machine centers, R&D operations, offices for engineering, in-house sales force and executives with footage for planned expansion which is conveniently located close to the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport.

1995 - Company name and logo changed, to the current, Airmo Inc., Pressure Technologies.

2004 - George sold the corporation to son, Charles Smida and his wife, Judith Smida. Charles has been a major part of the business since 1975 and Judith, since 1993. With their leadership, Airmo has undergone changes that reflect the expectations of their customers and the industries they serve and partner with.
