Shop Support Staff
The functional role of the Shop Support Staff is to work with the Lead Machinist/Shop Manager to learn and assist with the manual milling and automatic production of parts (primarily stainless steel), the assembly and testing of completed tools and the basic set-up and operation of CNC lathes.
- Upon adequate training, manually mill and automatically machine parts
- Milling stainless steel parts as a final operation before assembly
- Learning to load parts into CNC machines and monitoring part production
- Learning to operate CNC machines to make parts from start to finish
- Assist with buffing/clean-up of parts prior to assembly
- Assist with assembling tools and learning how to test them
- Document each operation of the jobs you work on in Epicor (ERP system)
- Assist in machine maintenance and keeping the shop clean and organized
- Growth potential in machine building that requires electrical and mechanical skills
- Education
Required: High school diploma
Preferred: Trade school in manufacturing related field - Experience
A minimum of one year of experience in a hands-on role with mechanical or
production duties, preferably in a machine or repair shop. - Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Familiarity with hand tools, machine tools and related inspection equipment. - Physical
Body Positions: standing, sitting, carrying (up to 50 lbs.) and walking
Body Movements: carrying items, use of hands, vision, arms and voice - Mental
Requires analytical and process orientation that includes basic counting, math and logistics. - Working Conditions
Manufacturing shop that is clean and climate controlled. - Forklift operation a plus
- General maintenance and /or inventory management knowledge is a plus
- Interest in being a part of a small team in a small business
- Willing to be flexible and ready to help out in different areas of production
